What Gets Rewarded, Gets Repeated (Part 3) – Mid Year Giving Statement

This past week, I have been talking about the idea of what gets rewarded, gets repeated.

Now, I am going to invite you to push this idea just a little bit further.

One of the things you can do in the mid-year giving statement is you can make it a celebration of everything that happened in the first half of the year. We literally created an eight-page catalog of what God had done in our Church during the first six months of last year. It has pictures. It has captions. It has staff. It has stories. I use that as my mid-year giving letter. That attracts givers, because we’re celebrating life change, and people are attracted to be a part of that life change.

Then suddenly, we’re celebrating baptism, we’re celebrating membership, and we’re celebrating new believers. You say, “Nelson, where did you get this idea of celebration?” Well, I got this idea from the Bible, because Jesus said that, “when somebody turns and follows Him, Heaven celebrates.”

You know there is celebration in the presence of God and the angels when one person makes a decision to follow Him. The angels in the Heavens, the people in Heaven, all celebrate what God wants more of. God wants more new believers, so they celebrate it. I can just imagine this energizes the heavenly hosts. It energizes the forces of good. It brings glory to the Son, glory to the Holy Spirit, and glory to God the Father, when one person is saved. Also, I can just imagine, if it’s possible, that this motivates all of God’s work in the kingdom. And it motivates me!

When I see somebody who comes to know Christ and I know the angels the angels are celebrating, I want to celebrate that. Then I begin to think about other people. How we can devise plans, and how we can devise systems and promotions, and all of that to see even more people saved. You get more of that which you celebrate.

I hope that teaching makes sense. There are so many ways to apply this to your Church– not just in the areas I’ve mentioned, like volunteers, and baptism, and membership, but in other areas, too.  Click Here to listen to my FREE audio training on the topic “What Gets Rewarded, Gets Repeated” and hear other ways in which you can celebrate!
