Today we’re wrapping up a series on the power of personal evangelism and how it’s the most effective way to bring people to your church.

POWERFUL TOOLS + TRAINING TO MOBILIZE YOUR PEOPLE

In our evangelism equation, tools and training go hand in hand. As you give people evangelistic tools and explain how to use them, you are training.

Let’s now look at several tools you can use to equip your people:

1. Have people write down the names of unchurched friends. People are more likely to see and seize opportunities to invite people to church when they are at the front of their awareness.

2. Lead people to pray for the unchurched. People’s hearts are drawn to the people they pray for. We use “invest and invite” cards to get people to write down the names of unchurched friends they can pray for. One side of the card has lines for people to write names on; the other side says “I will seek to invest in others who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus and invite them to The Journey.”

3. Utilize invitation cards. Provide your people with something they can hand to their friends when they extend the invitation. It can take many forms, as long as it contains all the pertinent information about your services.

4. Encourage people in entry-level evangelism. We give out free Journey pens every Sunday with our bulletins, to make it easy to fill out our connection cards. Occasionally we encourage people to give the pens away. The pens are an easy, small step people can take to move forward in evangelism.

5. Encourage friend and family invites. This can be especially effective when you have any kind of special event.

God has big dreams for your church, bigger than you can imagine. My prayer for you is that you will latch on to and start implementing some of these ideas. Mobilize your people for evangelism. Keep the evangelistic temperature boiling hot. And then give God the praise as he sends you the harvest.
