This week we’ve been looking at practical ways that YOU as a pastor can lead and keep the evangelistic temperature in your church red-hot.
If you missed Part 1, you can catch up right here.
To recap: as a pastor you have three avenues you can use to keep the temperature hot: the stage, the staff, and the structure. Continuing this 3-part article series, we’ll next explore the staff.
HOLDING STAFF ACCOUNTABLE
You can keep your evangelism toasty as a pastor by challenging your staff to hold the torch close to the thermostat.
If you, as the pastor, are going to lead on this issue, you have to expect a high level of evangelistic involvement from your staff, and you have to hold them accountable to those expectations.
I would go so far as to encourage you to make a heart for evangelism one of the standard prerequisites for all new hires.
I want to focus in on two key words here: challenge and accountability.
If you both challenge your staff, and hold them accountable in the following four areas, you will see their passion for evangelism ignite and the reading on the thermometer climb:
- Serve in evangelistic activities
- Pray for unchurched friends
- Pray and fast for big days
- Invite friends to church
If someone isn’t sharing their faith, they aren’t growing in their faith. Do you really want people on your staff who aren’t growing in their faith?
Raise the bar and you’ll be amazed at how many will climb over it with you.
Stay tuned for the rest of the series, to discover the third way you as a pastor can keep the evangelistic temperature in your church red-hot.
