Top 3 Growth Barriers Your Church Faces

Grow-Your-Church-2014-Webinar-iconWhen you know in your core that both you and God want your church to grow for His glory, nothing can stop you.  However, growth barriers will give it their best shot.  Here are the top three barriers that every growing church will face over and over again.

Growth Barrier #1: Space – Why is it that the most obvious things are sometimes the most overlooked?  This is definitely the case when it comes to the number one barrier that growing churches face: the barrier of space.  Maybe it’s that we as pastors don’t like to think about it.  “Just pack ’em in,” we say.  Most church leaders are so happy to have a full room that they don’t realize how this barrier is stalling their growth.

Growth Barrier #2: Self-Development – The growth barrier of self-development contends that when the leadership of a church stops growing, the church stops growing.  An organization of any kind cannot outgrow its leader.  It’s all too easy to neglect our own development as we try to use those very abilities to lead teams, teach people, and run a successful church.  However, if we don’t take the time to sharpen ourselves, we will be operating at a sub-par level.  We will not be as effective as God intends.

Growth Barrier #3: Sharing – A church will stop growing when it becomes inwardly focused– when time that was once invested in the community is now spent on maintenance concerns.  When you see a decline in the number of first-time guests and an increase in discussion of inwardly focused programs, you know you are facing this growth barrier. Make sure you are continually working to expand God’s kingdom, not building your own.
