You are not in competition with other pastors in your area or in your denomination. Your competition — and theirs — is everything that distracts people in your community from attending church and growing in their faith.

You compete with the bars, restaurants and events that keep people out late on Saturday night. You compete with the clubs that lead your people to enter into unhealthy relationships. You compete with the NFL pre-game shows and early kick-offs during football season.

But you do not compete against the other pastors around you who are trying to maximize their churches and disciple people into being fully developing followers of Jesus. They are your teammates; decide to treat them as such.
