Encouraging someone with your words is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways you can help. As Paul wrote, “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them” (Eph. 4:29).
Here are a few practical ways you can use your words to encourage those around you:
- pay your coworker a sincere compliment
- congratulate your child on a job well done
- listen to a friend who needs to talk and respond thoughtfully
- intentionally build up your spouse
