Dr. Elmer Towns shared many lessons with us at the recent Renegade Pastors Conference.

Dr. Towns said “It takes two wings to fly.” He was referring to his views on Faith-Balance in Faith Preaching.
Faith-Balance: When results come from God and human initiative.
“How effectively can the Christian fly who has the wings of faith, but not the natural wings of human effort? Can his faith-wing make him fly? If the one-winged believer sees a needy Christian and only blesses him in faith, has he done any good? No, his Christian friend is still needy. If you have a faith-only wing and believe in God, what good is that; the devils also believes in one God, but they do something about it; they tremble. You are dumb if you think faith without being practical will work” (James 2:14-20, ELT, Amplified).
5 Principles of Faith Balance:
- The division of labor: God will do what only He can do, and you must do, what man does. “We are workmen together with God” (1 Cor. 3:9).
- You must work hard for natural growth as your faith applies to spiritual growth.
- Your faith won’t work, till your actions back up your faith.
- The law of God’s blessing on small things done for Him.
- You can’t sit in a boat and pray for fish; you have to put a line in the water, use bait and a hook. You must fish at the right place (fishing hole) at the right time, with the right method. The more people you tell the gospel, the more will get saved.
There were many more insightful lessons given by Dr. Towns and other guest speakers. This was an absolutely phenomenal Renegade Pastors Conference – the best event we’ve had yet – and I don’t want to keep these church leader essentials a secret.
