With 2016 well underway, I know you’ll be doing hundreds or even thousands of things that will pull at you over the next year. Before you get pulled too far into the wrong priorities, take the time to outline and highlight no more than four specific areas that will get your primary focus this year.
In part one of this article, I offered some ideas for your ministry focus areas to get you started and promised that I would share my own.
Without further ado, here are my Big Four Strategic Focus Areas:
- The Journey Church. A lot of great things that will require my attention here: we’re moving to three Manhattan locations that will be within 15 minutes of everyone who lives there, in Boca we’re moving toward a capital campaign, and in San Francisco we’re reaching our 10th anniversary.
- My coaching ministry. I’m more committed than ever to coaching, and I’m focused on continual improvement. I want to keep innovating and updating what we do in all levels of the Ladder: my Advanced Coaching, Senior Pastor Coaching and Renegade Pastors Networks.
- My writing ministry. I have a new book month launching at the Renegade Pastors Conference. Two of my books, Launch and Fusion, are reaching the 10-year mark next year. My publisher is partnering with me to release new editions in 2017.
- A new exercise plan. My program was erratic last year as I was recovering from my abdominal surgery. So I’m piloting some new things this year and working with a trainer. My key goal: be more consistent.
Now it’s your turn! I challenge you to establish YOUR Big Four Strategic Focus Areas.
Your partner in ministry,
Nelson
