A lot of people have asked me recently,
What do you read each day/week/month besides books and why?
So, starting today, I want to share some of my “non-book” reading list, one by one, and see how far this leads us. I’ll give you one a week until I run out of recommendations.
While nothing replaces the reading of quality books, there are some great daily/weekly/monthly supplements that will help your intellect, your preaching, your exegesis of culture and perhaps stir your godly passions.
Take’m or leave’m but at least consider each one and if it should become part of your reading plan.
The Sunday Edition of the NY Times
I read this every week. Started doing so well before I moved to New York City to start The Journey Church. I prefer the Metro NYC edition if I can get it because it has expanded coverage of trends but, if not, the National Edition is fine.
I’m not a huge NY Times fan but the Sunday edition is great.
You get the Book Review and the NY Times Magazine, both of which are weekly must reads. Plus there’s a great Business and Arts section, not to mention some of the best World and National News reports.
Like it or not, what happens in NYC and what is covered in the Times impacts the nation and the world. The paper is biased to the left so keep that in mind, but let this weekly endeavor into a great Sunday newspaper stretch your mind and feed your intellect.
If nothing else, the Global News coverage in the Times is a great prayer map to the world.
BTW, you can get this delivered to your home in most areas of the country and you can find it at many Starbucks or grocery stores. Pricey at $5.00+ a week.
Watch for more recommendations same time next week.
