This is Kerrick Thomas – and for the last 12 years I’ve served alongside of Nelson Searcy as Executive Pastor of The Journey Church. I’m guest blogging today and would like to talk to you about time management.
Time is the Pastor’s most precious commodity . . . because your time is an unrenewable resource. Your time is your life — so managing your time is the only way to manage your life.
Here are two God-honoring Time Management Principles:
Set Artificial Deadlines
Parkinson’s Law says that the amount of time one has to perform a task is the amount of time it will take to complete the task. So this principle challenges you to see how fast you can complete each task. Set an artificial deadline and see how fast you can get it done. And then enjoy the extra time you have!
Start Work Early
There is nothing that will make your day more productive, remove unneeded stress and make the most of your time more than getting an early start to your work day. Whether you are knocking out some work at home or at the office – for most people the morning is the most productive time of the day.
Here’s one final tip: the most powerful time management principle is to learn to say “NO”.
