Last week, in the second of this three-part series, I offered a few ideas for things you can do on your Tech Free Day.
Because many pastors have a phone addiction which can negatively affect our health, our relationships and our spiritual life, I am strongly suggesting that you make the time to unplug.
Try to commit to one tech-free day per month. Now, enter these dates into your calendar for the rest of the year — and stick to them. Tell those close to you that you will not be available via your devices on that day of the month so that if they need to reach you about an urgent matter, they’ll know why you’re not electronically reachable.
Recently I walked away after a planned four-hour Tech Free Fast (cell phone left in car, plans made with family and assistant to know my whereabouts) literally saying “Oh the joys of four hours with God, my Bible, my journal and a good book!” That’s not how I normally talk (LOL) but it’s exactly what my soul needed. Try it and let me know.
