In this final installment of a four part blog series, I want to share with you how best to reflect on life moments in an effort to increase personal growth.
Remember, evaluated experience is the best teacher.
You need to build moments of reflection into your life, so you can look back and ask God to help you learn from these experiences. Ask God, “What do I need to learn from that? How do I ensure that I handle this differently when it comes to the future?”
In the last three installments we talked about building those moments of reflection into your life.
Now let’s look at how to reflect:
Confess. We often think about what we did wrong — this is the natural tendency.
Celebrate. We should want to acknowledge the things we did well. On an annual basis you can always see the progress and the blessings in your life; have an attitude of gratitude.
Capture. Take these lessons and carry them into next year. Keep building on them year after year.
We stand on the shoulders of the giants, of the people who have gone before us, the Christian leaders, the theologians, the pastors that we admire. We stand on each others’ shoulders and learn from one another. We stand on our past and capture its lessons so that we don’t repeat those errors in judgment that we repeated last year. As we look at how God blessed us last year, we’re better equipped to build on that for this year.

Nelson
