In preparation for my upcoming Church Growth and Evangelism A-Z Workshop, I want to give you my top reasons of why you should study history.
Over the next few weeks, I will give you reasons why studying history can make a direct and positive impact on your ministry!
Reason #1:
Life is too short to not learn from experience.
It’s been said that there are only two ways that you learn. You learn from your own mistakes or you learn from the mistakes of others. I’ve certainly taught that in my coaching networks, but the problem with learning from your own mistakes is that you don’t have time to make them all yourself.
You have to learn from other’s mistakes. Other people have gone down the same path that you and I have gone down. Other people have dealt with similar problems that you and I have dealt with. I’m amazed at our modern times how people who are experts on a particular subject, know so little about the history of that subject.
Studying history helps us make wise decisions. If you want to make a wise decision, you get the input from God and you get the input from scripture and you get the input of others who traveled down that same path.
Be sure to watch for Part 2 next Tuesday!
