What you celebrate in your church matters… it matters when it comes to evangelism, discipleship and life charge.
Today, I want to challenge you to celebrate the right things and see a greater blessing in those areas of your church.
There is an old leadership principle that says, “That which gets rewarded gets repeated,” and I think that’s true.
In fact, for those of you that are doing the assimilation system like I teach, you are already applying this principle when you send out the gifts to your first time guests. In many ways, that is a way for you to reward them. They have attended once so now you thank them with a handwritten note. You put the gift inside of the handwritten note, and that is a reward. They get a little reward for doing that.
Like when you were a kid and you went to the dentist. They gave you a little reward because you survived the dental cleaning or whatever it might be. Everybody still loves to get a sticker. Everybody still loves to get a gift card. Everybody loves to be rewarded. I do and you do, too. You reward the behavior that you want repeated.
They came for the first time and you reward it. Well, if you work the assimilation system like I teach it, they come back a second time where you reward them again for coming back. You send them another gift and their second-time guest letter following their second visit.
If you’ve done that long enough and with enough experience, you know that from time-to-time people will even write-in on their connection card that they are third-time guests. Now, we don’t actually have a follow-up process for third-time guests. But because you rewarded them the first time, they came back, repeated it. You rewarded them a second time. They came back and you repeated the reward.
