Maybe you have never thought much about this, but God has you living where you are for a reason. He wants you to impact your city or town in a way only you can. Consider this Bible verse: “Work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you….Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare” (Ker. 29:7).

You are called to engage the area you call home. Bless your city or town by showing the people who live there the love of Jesus in action. Here are a few practical ways you can start serving your city or town:

  • get involved with your church’s community outreach ministries
  • serve at a local homeless shelter
  • serve at a pregnancy crisis center
  • sign up to build houses with Habitat for Humanity
  • tutor children in low-income areas
  • say thank you to your local police officers and firefighters
